The 1938 Brough-Superior SS100 was made in Great Britain. It featured an air-cooled, 50o vee-twin four stroke engine. The ignition is by a Lucas magneto. The engine was rated at 45 b.h.p. at 5,000 r.p.m. The engine displacement was 981cc based upon a bore and stroke of 85.5 X 85.5mm. Fuel was supplied via a single Amal carburetor, with twin float chambers. Getting the power to the ground was by a Norton four speed transmission. The suspension featured a front Castle leading link forks with a plunger rear. Braking was accomplished by front and rear Royal Enfield drums. The motorcycle weighed in at 425 pounds. Top speed for the bike was 100 m.p.h.

According to the museum's fact sheet "Brough-Superiors, (pronounced "bruf") were advertised as the "Rolls-Royce of motorcycles". Actually, these machines were assembled from parts sourced from various manufacturers, always using the highest quality components. The Brough-Superior was the choice of machines of T.E. Lawrence (of Arabia) who owned five examples during his lifetime. The SS100 was the most expensive model, using a Matchless overhead valve moter. Other models used side-valve Matchless or overhead vales J.A.P. V-twins."
