The Indian 101 Scout motorcycle was made in the U.S.A. (Springfield, Massachusetts). It featured an air-cooled, 42o V-twin four stroke engine. The ignition was from a battery and coil. The engine was estimated at 18 b.h.p. The displacement was 45 cu. in. (750cc) based upon a bore and stroke of 2 7/8" X 3.5". Fuel was supplied via a single Schebler carburetor. Getting the power to the ground was by a three speed, hand actuated transmission. The suspension featured front leaf springs with a rigid rear. Drum brakes were on both the front and rear. The motorcycle weighed in at 370 pounds. Top speed for the bike was 70-75 m.p.h.

According to the museum's fact sheet "The 101 Scout gained a reputation of being a very tough, capable motorcycle. One of its outstanding features was its steering stability. The Indian Scout is still the preferred machine for carnival trick riding. Engineering design and quality is outstanding for a 70-year-old machine."
