  2007 Homewood Hawk

I was at West Homewood Park on the morning of April 21, 2007 when this hawk flew up into a tree about 30 feet from me. My presence did not scare or startle him, so he has obviously been in this area for a while. Luckily, I had my camera with me ready to make some pictures, so he was my first subject of the day. He had apparently been in a creek as his talons are wet. If you look closely at his perch you will see wet spots on the branch. Also, there are water drops across his chest.

I wish to extend many kind thanks to the folks at the Southeastern Raptor Center for helping to identify this as a mature Red-Tailed Hawk.
